Oregon’s exchange, Cover Oregon
, is designed to be a one-stop marketplace where small businesses and individuals can shop for health insurance plans and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage. Oregonians will also be able to obtain coverage and one-on-one help through insurance agents and community partners.
Key Dates on Enrollment
- Prior to October 1, 2013 – All employers (regardless of size) will need to provide notification of the Exchange to employees.
October 1, 2013 - Oregon’s healthcare insurance exchange opens enrollment.
January 1, 2014 - Coverage begins for plans accessed through Cover Oregon.
Cover Oregon will enable small employers to offer employees more health plan choices with financial assistance to help cover the cost of premiums (for qualifying employers). Federal tax credits are available now for employers with fewer than 25 FTEs to help cover the cost of coverage for employees.

In 2014, more people than ever before will qualify for free or low cost health insurance. The exchange will offer comparisons of health plans, quality insurance company ratings, and costs for individuals needing health insurance. A single application will enroll individuals and their families in health insurance plans and public programs (such as Medicaid and Healthy Kids). Financial assistance will also be available to help cover the cost of premiums and co-pays (for qualifying individuals). Read more at CoverOregon.com
